Bangalore, 21st August 2025: On the occasion of World Senior Citizens Day, Serene Communities, India’s leading senior living operator, hosted its flagship cultural festival Tarang Utsav 2025 — a vibrant celebration of the talent, creativity, and resilience of seniors across India.
The grand finale held on August 21st brought together over 250 residents on-ground and 1,000+ virtually across 10 Serene Communities in Bangalore, Chennai, Coimbatore, and other cities. The festival was graced by Padma Shri Dr. Kamini Rao, pioneer in reproductive medicine, who joined as Chief Guest.
While the world marks different days to recognize various causes, World Senior Citizens Day becomes a powerful reason to bring seniors and their lives into the spotlight. Tarang Utsav 2025 turned this observance into a true celebration — of independence, vitality, and the joy of actively ageing.
True to its name Tarang—meaning rhythm and waves—the event showcased soulful music, graceful dance, drama, quizzes, and fun contests. More than the performances, it was the warmth of inter-community participation, laughter, and friendship that defined this year’s celebration.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Rajagopal G, Director and CEO, Serene Communities, said:
“India today has nearly 150 million seniors, and this number is only growing. Yet, seniors remain one of the most overlooked communities despite the immense contribution they’ve made to society. At Serene, our purpose is to change this narrative — to create dignified, independent, and joyful lives for people in their silver years. Tarang Utsav embodies this spirit. It is their time to shine, to relax, to celebrate life after decades of hard work. Positive ageing is not just a concept for us, it is the very foundation of the communities we build.”
Quote – Padma Shri Dr. Kamini Rao, Chief Guest, Tarang Utsav 2025
“With nearly one in ten Indians now over the age of sixty, we are witnessing the rise of an entire generation that deserves recognition, respect, and platforms for expression. Events like Tarang Utsav are more than cultural showcases — they are affirmations of dignity and belonging. Seeing seniors sing, dance, and laugh together reminds us that ageing is not about withdrawal, but about embracing life with renewed vitality. Serene Communities is setting a remarkable example of what positive ageing can look like in India.”
Residents echoed the same spirit. “Living at Serene has given me a sense of security and belonging, but what truly makes it special are occasions like Tarang Utsav. It’s not just about performing or winning, but about feeling young again — discovering new passions, making friends, and knowing that every day still holds so much joy. It has completely changed the way I look at ageing.”
By aligning Tarang Utsav 2025 with World Senior Citizens Day, Serene Communities reaffirmed its mission of creating spaces where seniors don’t just live — but thrive. The festival highlighted the brand’s belief that ageing is not about slowing down, but about embracing life with rhythm, vitality, and togetherness.
